This large campground is in the Tāwharanui Open Sanctuary. It's situated on the north eastern coast behind the sand dunes and between Phoenix Reef and Comet Rock.
Native plantings divide the campground into six areas. It has a flat, undulating grass surface and several water taps. Camp only in tents in this area.
Marked access points show where you can access the beach through the dunes.
There is an all modes and vehicle-based campground to the left toward Comet Rock.

Main park gates are open from 6am to 9pm during daylight savings hours and 6am to 7pm during non-daylight saving hours.
Follow the sealed road into the park, through the pest-proof gate and past the woolshed (on your right). The campground gate is on your left 750m from the pest -proof gate.
You will need a combination code to open the locked access gate - we will send you the combination code with your booking confirmation. Follow the signposts to the campgrounds.
