The ten-year Māori Cultural Heritage Project is a collaboration with the iwi of Tāmaki Makaurau, integrating their knowledge (mātauranga Māori) and values into the appropriate recognition, protection and management of taonga, and sites and places of cultural and historic heritage.
This project will improve our understanding and appreciation of Tāmaki Makaurau's unique heritage and combines GIS technology with Māori cultural values in an innovative approach to planning.
Known as HAMP, this is a project to recognise council owned heritage places.
The current focus is built heritage places and providing advice, such as ongoing maintenance and repair, to ensure we are leading by example in the appropriate management and funding of these heritage places.
