The Auckland Unitary Plan Operative in Part and Auckland Council District Plan include heritage schedules. These schedules contain places that are recognised as having significant heritage value to the people of Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland.

All heritage schedules in the Auckland Unitary Plan Operative in Part can be read and downloaded from Chapter L of the plan.
All heritage schedules in the Hauraki Gulf Islands section of the Auckland District Plan can be read and downloaded at Auckland Council District Plan – Hauraki Gulf Islands Section – Heritage appendices.

Any individual or organisation can nominate a historic heritage place or tree for inclusion in the heritage schedules if they think it has significant heritage value.
However, only mana whenua are able to nominate sites and places of significance to mana whenua for inclusion.
For more detailed information regarding sites and places of significance, it is best to contact mana whenua with interest in the area as they are the experts in their cultural values.
