Bringing local history alive.
Experiences
Students step back in time to meet the cantankerous cook and the other colourful characters that inhabit this 'real-life' bush camp.
They spend the day as part of a work gang, cooking scones on an open fire, building bivvies, winching logs on a bush tramline and cutting logs with a pit saw.
Experience the sights, the sounds and the distinctive smoky smell of life in the Waitakere Ranges in 1883.
This is a full day trip and not an overnight camp. Teachers are required to do a familiarisation trip for this programme and share an exciting resource kit to help prepare students for stepping back in time.
