Learn about the importance of technology in farming.
Experiences
Meet in the barn to discover how farming technology has developed over the years. See the major leaps forward in sheep shearing and then the real action (crutching) in our woolshed.
Then it is the students turn to have a go at their choice of two activities:
- Drafting - design and erect a temporary sheep yard to draft a flock of real sheep.
- Carding/felting - use hand carders to card wool and turn it into felt.
- Hot wiring - assemble a section of electric fence and make it 'live'.
- Butter-making - take some milk, separate the cream and make some tasty butter.
- Animal health management - learn about ear tags, drench guns, artificial insemination and more.
