The importance of native forests and their biodiversity - and how they are interconnected.
Experiences
In Māori tradition, te ngahere (the forest) and people are strongly connected by the god Tāne. Students go exploring in the forest to discover how important they are to us and the environment.
On their mirror walk they see the bush as they've never seen it before and meet some of the stars of the show (kōwhai, pōhutukawa, tōtara, rimu, pūriri, kauri, etc). They use magnifying glasses and discover how forests are the best recyclers in the world.
It's all about fabulous forests and why they are so important to us.
