Students become freshwater citizen scientists for the day.
Experiences
Using scientific Wai Care equipment students investigate the health of the Arataki stream, testing temperature, clarity, dissolved oxygen, pH and macroinvertebrates.
Learning about water catchments they will decide whether the stream is healthy or not, and discover what actions they can take to protect and restore precious awa.
Students and teachers can then borrow a Wai Care kit and test the health of their local stream.
