- increase opportunities for papakāinga on Marae and Māori housing development on Māori Freehold Land and Treaty Settlement Land within Tāmaki Makaurau.

Funding to support the capacity and capability of iwi, hapū, whānau and Māori organisations for develop planning costs.
Includes, but not limited to:
A maximum grant of $170,000 per applicant per year is available.
All applicants must complete an application form.
We will review and assess applications and present recommendations to the Parks, Arts and Community Events Committee. The committee will decide how to allocate the funds through the contestable process and set any grant conditions.
The Regional Papakāinga Grants Assessment Panel will include representatives from the Māori Housing Unit, Community Facilities and Ngā Mātārae (Māori Outcomes Directorate). They will review the application and will select applicants to proceed to the next stage, with advice from council.
We may run a second funding round if there are funds left over.
