About the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board Excellence Award
Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board set up this award to:
- support local residents and organisations to represent the area and demonstrate their outstanding achievements in their chosen field
- recognise and celebrate the contributions of the local applicants.
The award aims to:
- increase the profile and image of the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board area
- help applicants to build their ability to serve the community
- promote diverse participation in local government and community life
- help develop a sustainable workforce for local industry and surrounds
- strengthen the development of community unity in Ōtara-Papatoetoe.

Criteria
To be eligible to apply for the grant, you must:
- be a New Zealand resident or citizen living in the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board Area
- show excellent and outstanding achievements in your chosen field
- show leadership potential or how you have contributed to the community during the past 12 months
- have been accepted to attend a conference or event either in New Zealand or overseas that will develop your leadership potential.
Documents you will need
Your application must include:
- a reference letter
- proof of New Zealand citizenship or residency (photocopy of your passport)
- confirmation of your attendance for the conference or event that the award is for
- certificates showing your previous achievements (if relevant)
- proof of your bank account number (one of the following):
- blank pre-printed deposit slip
- bank statement or letter certified by your bank
- screenshot of your bank account (must show the bank's website address).
Deadline for lodging applications
We must receive your application at least eight weeks before your event is due to take place.
Accountability measures
Successful applicants must submit an accountability report at the end of their project or activity. This is required to show us how the grant was used.
We will not give any future funding to applicants who do not complete this report.
