The fees and charges included in this section apply to businesses providing a service that:
- pierces the skin
- risks breaking the skin
- risks burning the skin.

Low-risk (single or multiple basic service)
- Exfoliation
- Manicure and pedicure
- Sun beds
- Hair removal.
High-risk (single or multiple high-risk service)
- Acupuncture, cupping and moxibustion
- Electrolysis
- Derma rolling and stamping
- Laser treatment and pulsed light
- Tattooing
- Body piercing
- Extractions
- Red vein treatment
- Traditional tool tattooing.
We will assess and register businesses as providing either a:
- single basic service
- multiple basic services
- single high-risk service, or
- multiple high-risk services.
Only one annual fee is charged for each licensee.
Health licence fees are non-refundable and are charged every year. They are not adjusted based on time used.
Under the Health and Hygiene Bylaw 2013, members of the New Zealand Register of Acupuncturists (Acupuncture NZ) or the New Zealand Acupuncture Standards Authority (NZASA) are exempt from our licensing and code of practice requirements.

Note:
If our Environmental Health Officer (EHO) finds any health and hygiene issues, they will work with operators to resolve them within an agreed timeframe.
If this involves follow-up work, you will be charged based on our current hourly rate.
We will invoice you for these costs after the situation has been resolved.
