You can only display veranda signs on a premises in a residential area if the premises is:
- a historic heritage premises where the sign is not regulated under the Auckland Unitary Plan
- a retail premises lawfully established before 01 October 2015.
You can only display a sign on a veranda’s fascia (the board fixed to the outside edge of a veranda) in a residential area.
Signs cannot be displayed under or on top of a veranda in these areas.
Veranda signs in these areas must only advertise the premises (for example, the business name) and things that you can buy or do on the premises, such as:
- services
- goods
- products
- activities
- events.
