About Highbrook Park

Highbrook Park is a green oasis in the bustling East Tāmaki area.

The park has 42 hectares of scenic parkland that winds along the shores of the Tāmaki River.

Enjoy the 14kms of walking and cycling tracks. Seating is available for you to rest on as you take in the coastal view. There is also plenty of open space for recreational activities or to have a picnic.

There is an abundant array of bird life feeding on the shores including:

  • the native kōtare (kingfisher)
  • kāruhiruhi (pied shags)
  • matuku moana (white faced heron) and
  • poaka (pied stilts).

Access the park from Highbrook Drive, and from Pukekiwiriki Place. There is a public car park at the north end of the park.

Follow the 5km Highbrook South Path to enjoy wide open spaces and great views. Or you can try the 9km gravel Highbrook Path around the edge of the Tāmaki River.
