The reserve has the large tidal Ōrākei Basin which is used for a range of water sports. Check out the basin’s flushing schedule, and bookings and public availability.
It has good paved and gravel pathways along water’s edge, connection to Hobson Bay Walkway, and cycling connection along a boardwalk beside the train line between Orakei Train Station and Purewa Road.
Access from Orakei Road. Pedestrians can also access from Upland, Lucerne, Meadowbank and Purewa roads.
Parking, seating and the Ōrākei Basin Reserve boat ramp are inside the park.
Follow the Ōrākei Basin Path to walk the 2.9 kms around the basin.
