About North Head
Maungauika / North Head - Canon sitting in a clearing part way up the maunga.
One of Auckland region's 14 Tūpuna Maunga (ancestral mountains).
Access the maunga from Takuranga Road. The gates are open for vehicle access from 6am to 8pm in summer, and 7am to 7pm in winter. The pedestrian gates are open from 6am to 10pm in summer, and 7am to 8.30pm in winter.

Animals
Dogs must be on leash at all times in our parks unless otherwise stated in the dog walking section.
Alcohol

Smokefree parks
Our parks are all smokefree.
Waste
Use bins where provided to dispose of your rubbish. If there are no bins take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave.
Outdoor fires
It is illegal to light open fires in public areas in the Auckland region.
