13 May Road, Mount Roskill
May Road War Memorial Park is an open space, combining sports fields, community facilities, and areas for quiet contemplation.
Named after early settler Joseph May, the War Memorial title was added to the park in 1955 following the opening of the War Memorial Hall.
The War Memorial Hall has two bookable rooms for functions. There are also many bookable sports fields.
The Lovelock Track, an all-weather synthetic track, is available to the public and home to Owairaka Athletics Club. Built in 1961, the track is named after New Zealand's first Olympic gold medallist on the track, Jack Lovelock. You can access the track from the Sandringham Road Extension.
You’ll also find a playground, skate park, basketball courts, and all-ages fitness equipment area near the main car park.
Te Auaunga Oakley Creek runs through the park, flanked by a shared pathway.
The Wesley Markets are held in the Gifford Avenue carpark every Tuesday and Friday.
