Perched on the edge of the Manukau Harbour, this reserve is a popular spot throughout the year. It has heritage sites with a wealth of Māori and European history sites, including a seawall built around 80 years ago.
The beach and grassed open space provide plenty of room for the kids to run around. Toilets, a barbecue, picnic tables and seating make it the perfect spot to relax or have a picnic.
A wide, flat walkway leads to the Blockhouse Bay Boat Club and spectacular views from the point. The boat ramp at the end of Endeavour Street provides access to the water for boats and kayaks.
The boat-themed playground is popular with younger children.
There is parking at the end of Endeavour Street. Pedestrians can also access the reserve from Blockhouse Bay Road and Taunton Terrace.
Follow the 3km Te Ara o Tiriwa / Green Bay Path along the coastline to Karaka Park. It forms one part of the Manukau Coastal Walkway network.
The on-street parking at the end of Endeavour Street is very close to the park and facilities. There are no accessible car parking spaces.
Flat walkways run through the park along the coast and connect to the playground and accessible toilets.
Walkways to adjacent streets are steep and have stairs so are not suitable for people with access needs.
Visit the Safeswim website for live information on water quality and safe swimming conditions at this beach.
