About Mount Albert War Memorial Park

Mt Albert War Memorial Park – Two accessible parking spaces close to the playground.

Mount Albert War Memorial Park has a well-equipped playground, including the iconic rocket climbing feature. Grassy open space and mature trees surround the playground. There are fitness equipment, picnic tables, seating and toilets near the playground.

The Mount Albert War Memorial Hall and Senior Citizens Hall are in the middle of the park (both bookable for functions and events). There are also the YMCA's Community and Leisure Centre and the Mount Albert Bridge Club.

You will find netball and tennis courts, a basketball half-court and a flying fox behind the leisure centre building.

The park is well connected with pathways, although some are steep in places. There is plenty of parking with some accessible spaces near to all the buildings.

Animals

Dogs must be on leash at all times in our parks unless otherwise stated in the dog walking section.

Alcohol

Smokefree parks

Our parks are all smokefree.

Waste

Use bins where provided to dispose of your rubbish. If there are no bins take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave.

Outdoor fires

It is illegal to light open fires in public areas in the Auckland region.

Playgrounds at Mount Albert War Memorial Park

Mt Albert War Memorial Park – The wheelchair accessible Liberty Swing in the playground.

Going where no playground has gone before...into a space-themed play area for kids of all ages. Dominated by a huge 'rocket', this large playground features various climbing towers, slides, swings, and lots of imaginative play.

There is also a wheelchair accessible liberty swing and ample seating and shade around the rocket to relax and watch your space explorers.

Bus stop

There are bus stops opposite the playground on both sites of New North Road.

Toilets

There is a toilet block next to the playground at the corner of Wairere Avenue and New North Road. Open 7am to 11pm in summer and 7am to 9pm in winter.

Seating

There is seating available , mostly near the playground and buildings.

Picnic sites

There are picnic tables and seating by the playground and behind the Mt Albert Community and Recreation Centre. This is also plenty of open space to find a spot to relax.

Drinking fountain

Drinking fountain is near the courts.

Car park

The lower car park is open from 7am to 11.30pm daily. The rest of the parking inside the park is available 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Basketball, netball and tennis

There is a basketball half court, and netball and tennis courts off Selcourt Road behind the Community and Recreation Centre.

Accessible Liberty Swing

There is a Liberty Swing for wheelchair users at the Wairere Avenue side of the playground.

Mobility parking

Some accessible parking spaces are available near the buildings in the centre of the park.

Mount Albert War Memorial Hall

This hall is in the middle of the park and can be booked for functions and events. Find out when it is available for hire.

Barbecue

There is a barbecue behind the Community and Recreation Centre.

Mt Albert Senior Citizens Hall

This hall is in the middle of the park and can be booked for functions and events. Find out when it is available for hire.
