About Mt Wellington War Memorial Reserve

This large sports park and the adjoining Dunkirk Reserve make up an area of 15.5 hectares. They have one kilometre of waterfront bounding the Tamaki River.

The park is home to Marist Brothers Old Boys Rugby Club, Mount Wellington Rugby Club and Riverside Sports tennis club. Many other sports clubs use the area on a regular basis.

Access the car park from Dunkirk Road. Pedestrians can also access from Armein Road and through Panmure Wharf Reserve.

A playground, flying fox, accessible toilets, car park, picnic tables and seating, and sports fields are inside the park.

Follow the Tāmaki Path along the water to Wai-O-Taiki Nature Reserve.

Animals

Dogs must be on leash at all times in our parks unless otherwise stated in the dog walking section.

Alcohol

Alcohol is banned from some public places in Auckland. See Alcohol bans to find out the rules for each park and view ban maps.

Smokefree parks

Our parks are all smokefree.

Waste

Use bins where provided to dispose of your rubbish. If there are no bins take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave.

Outdoor fires

It is illegal to light open fires in public areas in the Auckland region.

How to access Mt Wellington War Memorial Reserve

  • Car park  ‑ Access from Dunkirk Road. Gate open 7am to 9pm in summer and 7am to 7pm in winter.
