About Ambury Regional Park

Ambury Farm lies along the coast of the Manukau Harbour in the suburb of Māngere Bridge. You can take in various farm animals as you wander around the farm.

This is a significant habitat for shorebirds and the coast has examples of basalt lava flows.

Felt Room hire

This classroom-sized space is ideal for children's parties and caters for up to 30 people. It is available for hire on weekends, public holidays, or school holidays only.

The room has running water, power, tables, chairs, and is close to the animal area. All food, decorations, etc, are the responsibility of the hirer.

You can hire the room for a two hour period starting at either 10am or 1.30pm. This includes set up, pack down and clean up time, and gives you exclusive use of the room and basic equipment only.

You need to know

Animals
  • Dogs, other animals and pets are prohibited at all Auckland Council regional parks' bookable sites and accommodation. The exception is registered aid dogs. You will need to advise our staff at time of booking if you have a registered aid dog for an exemption.
  • Dogs are allowed in regional parks only as stated in the dog walking section. All other animals are prohibited at all times, unless you have a permit issued by Auckland Council.
Alcohol
  • Visible and excessive consumption of alcohol is prohibited.
  • We may ask you and your group to leave the park and terminate your permit.
Smokefree regional parks
  • Our regional parks are smoke-free.
  • Please observe this while staying on or using our regional parks.
Waste

All our regional parks are rubbish free. Take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave.

Outdoor fires

It is illegal to light a fire outside in all public areas in the Auckland region.

How to access Ambury Regional Park

  • Pedestrian access  ‑ Open 24 hours
  • Mobility access (partial)  ‑ There is access around the farm animal enclosures on gravel and grassy laneways. These may be inaccessible in wet conditions.
  • Mobility parking  ‑ There are four designated mobility parks in the main car park.
  • Parking  ‑ There are 20 parking spaces in the main car park area. Additional parking spaces are available on the grass areas.
  • Winter gate opening hours  ‑ 6am to 7pm (Non-daylight saving)
  • Summer gate opening hours  ‑ 6am to 9pm (Daylight saving)
  • Pram access  ‑ Take your little one for a stroll at Ambury. The most accessible track is the Farm Walk but the Foreshore and Lost Garden's walks are possible too.
  • Vehicle access  ‑ An automatic gate is located at the park entrance. No access after closing hours. It will open at any time for vehicles exiting the park.

What to see and do at Ambury Regional Park

  • BBQ  ‑ 

    There are four bbqs - two electric and two wood-burning (bring your own wood). One electric bbq is a bookable site with a large grass area - see Picnics for how to book.

  • Smoke free park  ‑ Our regional parks are smoke free. For the comfort of other park users, please do not smoke while visiting the park.
  • Woolshed  ‑ The Ambury Woolshed is open on some weekends when shearing is being undertaken. In the sheep yards behind, you might see the farmer doing stock work with their dogs.
  • Drinking water  ‑ Drinking fountain located by the barn.
  • Picnic tables  ‑ Feel free to set up your own picnic site. There are picnic tables for use around the park.
  • Shelter  ‑ Located near the first carpark.
