When you visit our parks, you need to clean your footwear and equipment to avoid transferring disease from one area to another.

Part of the Waitākere Ranges Regional Park, Cornwallis is a popular, safe spot for family picnics and swimming.

Be sure to visit the 200m long restored Cornwallis wharf, the last of the Manukau Harbour's 16 ferry wharves.

You need to know

Animals

Dogs, other animals and pets are prohibited at all Auckland Council regional parks' bookable sites and accommodation. The exception is registered aid dogs. You will need to advise our staff at time of booking if you have a registered aid dog for an exemption.
Dogs are allowed in regional parks only as stated in the dog walking section. All other animals are prohibited at all times, unless you have a permit issued by Auckland Council.

Alcohol

Visible and excessive consumption of alcohol is prohibited.
We may ask you and your group to leave the park and terminate your permit.

Smokefree regional parks

Our regional parks are smoke-free.
Please observe this while staying on or using our regional parks.

Waste

All our regional parks are rubbish free. Take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave.

Outdoor fires

It is illegal to light a fire outside in all public areas in the Auckland region.

Boat ramp

Boat ramp access, suitable for trailer launch for boats under five metres in length.

8am to 9pm (Daylight saving)

Site 2

A beachside picnic site with a barbecue and shelter. Larger groups can book sites 1 and 2 together.
Note: the barbecues are out of order and unavailable until 29 February 2024. We appreciate your patience while we work on the repairs.

Monument Track

Cornwallis wharf

Wheelchair accessible this 200 metre long wharf is the last of the Manukau Harbour's 16 ferry wharves.

Kakamatua Inlet Track

30 minutes, 200 m
Not suitable for prams or wheelchairs. Check if Kakamatua Inlet Track is open.

Beach

You'll find about 1.3 km of sandy beach to enjoy walking, fishing and swimming.

10 minutes, 200 m

Picnics

There are four bookable sites here for large groups. Or just make yourself comfortable in your favourite spot.

Swimming

A popular spot for swimming see, www.safeswim.org.nz for details and conditions.

Weddings

You may need to apply for a permit to have an event or wedding in a regional park. For more information call 09 301 0101 and ask to speak to a sector office.

Walking

Large sections of our track network are currently closed. See Protect our kauri trees for details.

Drones

See, Flying drones or unmanned aerial vehicles for current rules and guidelines for flying in our parks.

Boating

Suitable for small boats, personal watercraft and sea kayaks. Currents in the harbour can be very strong.

Fishing

The beach and wharf are both very popular spots for fishing.

Sightseeing

You can enjoy views across the Manukau Harbour and along Cornwallis beach.
