About Te Ārai Regional Park

Located in the north east of Rodney, Te Ārai Regional Park has three distinct access points to reach the stunning coastline and beaches. It includes a highly sensitive dune and lake ecosystems, wetlands, coastal broadleaf forest and regenerating forest.

Towards the southern end, the park features a long sandy beach formerly known as Forestry that is popular with surfers. You can also visit Te Ārai Point to explore the headland or take a dip in the retired quarry.

Parking is available at Pacific Road with pedestrian access to the beach over the dunes and to the northern part of the extensive track network.

We have a CSC parking area that allows for three-night stays in certified self-contained vehicles. You must book and pay before you can stay at the Te Ārai CSC parking area.
