Martins Bay Holiday Park is a unique coastal escape on the edge of a beautiful sandy beach.

We have accommodation options to suit every budget with caravans, self-contained units, tourist flats, cabins and glamping tents. We also have powered sites for tents and campervans.

The area has a lot to offer and you'll enjoy swimming to the pontoon, fishing around the nearby islands, and so much more.

Animals

Dogs, other animals and pets are prohibited at all times unless otherwise stated in the dog walking section.

Alcohol

Alcohol is banned from some public places in Auckland. See Alcohol bans to find out the rules for each park and view ban maps.

Smokefree parks

Our parks are all smokefree.

Waste

Use bins where provided to dispose of your rubbish. If there are no bins take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave.

Outdoor fires

It is illegal to light open fires in public areas in the Auckland region.

There are two fun playground areas – one within the holiday park grounds, and another in the public reserve bordering the park.

Follow these rules to keep yourself and others safe:

Playgrounds are risky and designed to challenge – always supervise children.
Use play equipment as it is intended.
Playgrounds are for everyone – respect others, take turns.

Playground surfaces get hot – check before using and wear appropriate clothing and shoes.
Play when it’s cool and avoid the heat of the day.

Facilities at Martins Bay Holiday Park

Kitchen facilities

Communal kitchen has cooktops, microwaves, fridges, freezers, toasters, continuous boiling water and washing up facilities.

Boating and fishing

Fully equipped for recreational boating and fishing our facilities include an excellent fish cleaning area, an authorised fish weigh station and boat cleaning facilities.

Laundry

Large coin operated dryers and washing machines for hot or cold washes. Clotheslines, tubs for hand-washing and ironing facilities are available.

Electric vehicle (EV) charging

A double super-fast EV box charger is available.

Boat ramp

All-weather boat ramp with ample boat and trailer parking.

Waste dump station

A dump station is available for paying guests to empty waste tanks. If your motorhome is particularly large or the tank is on the left-hand side you will find it easier to dump waste at the larger facility at Kowhai Reserve, on Highway 1, Warkworth.

Toilets and showers

Three amenities blocks provide ample access to toilets and showers. Showers currently require a 50c coin for 5 minutes hot water.

BBQs

A large communal barbecue area is provided for guests to use at no charge.

Activities at Martins Bay Holiday Park

Walking

Enjoy a variety of walks from Martins Bay up to Scandretts Regional Park. You can take a pram along the beach but some tracks are steep and may be challenging with a pram. Ask reception for a copy of the park map for track location and information.

Swimming

Martins Bay beach makes for a pleasant swim. It is calm and suitable for children. You can swim at low tide.

Fishing

The bay is great for fishing - a good spot is the rock shelf on either side of the bay. Check tides to ensure you can get back safely. MPI fishing rules apply.

Bird watching

Martins Bay is a great place to view shorebirds with a resident population of NZ dotterel and oyster catchers. Kererū, tūī, fantail, morepork and many other species also frequent the park.

Diving

Nearby Kawau Bay has some interesting sites for snorkelling and diving.

Kayaking

Kayaking from Martins Bay is pleasant for all ages and abilities in calm conditions. Experienced kayakers can paddle to Kawau Island. You can hire kayaks and Stand Up paddle boards from the holiday park office for short distance adventures.

Cycling

You can ride in the holiday park but you must wear a helmet.

Mountain biking

You can ride on the open farmland and all tracks at Scandretts Regional Park unless otherwise indicated. However, the area is not considered bike friendly with most tracks crossing farm paddocks with many closed gates to lift your bike over.

Picnics

Martins Bay is a great place for a picnic and it is easy to find a picturesque spot of your own. You can bring your own gas barbecue. Please do not take your vehicle on the beach.

Boating

Martins Bay is generally calm and makes for a pleasant boating experience. Boats can be launched from the boat ramp next to the holiday park.

Sightseeing

Enjoy some great sights from the main beach area or walking tracks. The tracks provide elevated views of the sea across much of the Hauraki Gulf. Offshore islands such as Kawau are clearly visible.
