About Puhinui Reserve

Experience the pleasure of both rural countryside and views of Manukau Harbour on easy walkways at this reserve. Note: This is a working farm, so please leave gates as you find them.

At 199 hectare of rural landscape, Puhinui Reserve occupies the southern portion of the Puhinui Peninsula. It has considerable historic, conservation and cultural amenity value.

The reserve forms part of the extensive Matukuturua volcanic field and is linked with pre-European settlements centred around Wiri Mountain and Matukutura (McLaughlins Mountain).

You need to know

Animals

Dogs must be on leash at all times in our parks unless otherwise stated in the dog walking section.

Alcohol

Alcohol is banned from some public places in Auckland. See Alcohol bans to find out the rules for each park and view ban maps.

Smokefree parks

Our parks are all smokefree.

Waste

Use bins where provided to dispose of your rubbish. If there are no bins take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave.

Outdoor fires

It is illegal to light open fires in public areas in the Auckland region.

How to access Puhinui Reserve

  • Car park  ‑ Access the car park from the end of Prices Road. Gates open 7am to 9pm in summer and 7am to 7pm in winter.

  • Picnic table  ‑ Alongside one of the many paths through the reserve.
