Shepherds Park is near Beach Haven's suburban centre and is named after the Shepherd family who farmed there for several generations.
This large park provides multiple recreation facilities including fitness equipment, learn to ride bike trail, play equipment, sports fields and facilities (football, futsal, squash and tennis).
The park is home to the Birkenhead United AFC, Beach Haven Bowling Club, Beach Haven Tennis Club and Shepherds Park Squash Club.
Access the car park from Beach Haven Road, and the sports fields from Cresta Avenue and Melba Street. Pedestrian access is also off John Bracken Way. Park gates are open 6am-8.30pm in summer and 6am-6.30pm in winter.
A playground, toilets (including accessible toilets), a barbecue, picnic tables and seats, and a great network of paths are inside the park.
Follow Shepherds Park Path for a short run or bike ride around the park. If you're keen for a longer walk you can also do the adjoining Hellyers Creek Path.
A wide and flat concrete path runs through the park and extends to the lookout point. The large desk is suitable for wheelchairs and mobility aids.
The Melba Street car park has designated accessible parking spaces. Bus stops on Beach Haven Road are only a few minutes away from the park, community house and playground.
