Takapuna Beach Reserve
Also known as Takapuna Beach

37 The Strand, Takapuna

About Takapuna Beach Reserve

Takapuna Beach Reserve has something for everyone, including a staggering view of Rangitoto Island.

There are benches, lounge chairs and hammocks for you to relax with a book or listen to the sound of the waves.

Two playgrounds provide plenty for the kids of all ages to enjoy, including for those with accessible needs. Large open grassed spaces and established trees are perfect for recreational activities or relaxing with a picnic.

Have fun on and in the ocean with a kayak, paddle board or a swim. At low tide you can access the full length of the beach. We don't have lifeguards so you need to be careful with any water activities.

The nearby Takapuna Beach boat ramp provides access for other water activities.

Parking (including mobility), picnic tables, toilets and changing rooms, barbecue, outdoor shower and a drinking fountain are also available at this reserve. These facilities are also available to users of the adjacent Gould Reserve.

Accessible bathroom facilities: Changing Places NZ has provided a fully accessible bathroom at this reserve. Visit the Changing Places website to find out how to access these facilities.

Safeswim: to check for live information on water quality and safe swimming conditions at this beach, see the Safeswim website.
