Chelsea Estate Heritage Park is a large recreation space within the suburbs of Birkenhead and Chatswood, south of the Highbury Shopping Centre.
The park is a mixture of regenerating indigenous forest with a scattering of exotic trees. The ponds and edges are roosting and nesting sites for black shags, pied shags, kōtare and occasionally royal spoonbills.
It has a unique European history and is an important heritage site of both national and international significance. The park has been recognised by the NZ Historic Places Trust who have registered it as a Category I historic place.
The park also has a number of walking tracks that link at the south-western end to Chatswood Reserve and Kauri Point Centennial Park for wider adventuring, and is home to the Chelsea Sugar Refinery and Café.
Access from Colonial Road. You will need to park on the road.
Accessible toilets are inside the park.
