About Selwyn Reserve

Large, popular park and beach. With lots of well-established trees around the park this is the perfect spot for recreational activity and picnicking.

Access both car parks from Tamaki Drive. Pedestrians can also access from multiple points along Tamaki Drive.

A playground, toilets and changing rooms, car parks, fitness equipment, seating and picnic tables, fountain, drinking fountains, and barbecues are inside the park.

Follow the Mission Bay to Wynyard Quarter Path along the waterfront, the Tāmaki Drive Coastal Path which includes Takaparawhau/Bastion Point, or enjoy our white sand beaches along the St Heliers to Mission Bay Path.

You need to know

Animals

Dogs must be on leash at all times in our parks unless otherwise stated in the dog walking section.

Alcohol

Alcohol is banned from some public places in Auckland. See Alcohol bans to find out the rules for each park and view ban maps.

Smokefree parks

Our parks are all smokefree.

Waste

Use bins where provided to dispose of your rubbish. If there are no bins take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave.

Outdoor fires

It is illegal to light open fires in public areas in the Auckland region.

How to access Selwyn Reserve

  • Car parks  ‑ Access both car parks from Tamaki Drive. Gates open 6.30am to midnight daily.

What to see and do at Selwyn Reserve

  • Picnic tables  ‑ By the playground and the car park at the eastern end of the reserve.
  • Drinking fountain  ‑ By both toilet blocks and the playground.
  • Barbecue  ‑ Electric barbecue by the car park at the eastern end of the reserve.
  • Boat ramp  ‑ Public ramp. Not suitable for large boats. Opposite Mission Bay Reserve. See Google Maps.
  • Outdoor shower  ‑ On the outside of both toilet blocks.
