About Huapai Recreation Reserve

Huapai Recreation Reserve is a large sports reserve. It has a great network of flat, wide concrete paths connect the entrances and facilities within the reserve.

Access the main car park from Tapu Road. Pedestrians can also access from Van Rixel Drive and Park Views Lane.

The park has two playgrounds, accessible toilets and changing rooms, and three car parks (with mobility parking). There is also a skate ramp, fitness equipment, cricket pitches and nets, tennis and netball courts, and picnic tables and seating inside the park.

Follow the 1.2km Huapai Reserve Path through the reserve.

Accessible features at this reserve

The wide, flat concrete paths provide easy access from the car parks to the facilities and around the reserve.

The gender neural accessible toilet also has a baby change table.

You need to know

Animals

Dogs must be on leash at all times in our parks unless otherwise stated in the dog walking section.

Alcohol

Alcohol is banned from some public places in Auckland. See Alcohol bans to find out the rules for each park and view ban maps.

Smokefree parks

Our parks are all smokefree.

Waste

Use bins where provided to dispose of your rubbish. If there are no bins take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave.

Outdoor fires

It is illegal to light open fires in public areas in the Auckland region.

How to access Huapai Recreation Reserve

  • Car parks  ‑ Access the three car parks from Tapu Road.
  • Mobility parking  ‑ There are two accessible parking spaces in each of the three car parks. Access from Tapu Road.

What to see and do at Huapai Recreation Reserve

  • Picnic tables  ‑ By the playground next to the tennis and netball courts.
  • Skatepark  ‑ 

    Skate park safety rules

    Our skate parks are not supervised.

    Follow these rules to keep yourself and others safe:

    • Wear a well-fitting helmet and other protective gear.
    • Skate to your ability – don't try new tricks until you're confident.
    • Don't sit in or walk through the skating area.
    • Skate parks are for everyone – take turns, be courteous and have fun!
