About Starling Park

This is a large flat grass reserve with recreation options for all ages. A good network of paths connect the sports fields, playground, toilets and entrances to the park. There are plenty of trees around the border of the park to find shelter for a picnic or to relax with a book.

Access the car park from Glen Road. Pedestrians can also access from Starling and Frostbite places, and multiple entrances along Waitemata Drive.

A car park, toilets, playground, skate park, basketball court, sports fields and fitness equipment are inside the park.

Follow the 900m loop Starling Park Path around the park.

You need to know

Animals

Dogs must be on leash at all times in our parks unless otherwise stated in the dog walking section.

Alcohol

Alcohol is banned from some public places in Auckland. See Alcohol bans to find out the rules for each park and view ban maps.

Smokefree parks

Our parks are all smokefree.

Waste

Use bins where provided to dispose of your rubbish. If there are no bins take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave.

Outdoor fires

It is illegal to light open fires in public areas in the Auckland region.

How to access Starling Park

  • Car park  ‑ Access from Glen Road. Gate open 7am to 9pm daily.
  • Mobility parking  ‑ An accessible parking space is available next to the club rooms. Access from Glen Road. Gate open 7am to 9pm daily.

What to see and do at Starling Park

  • Picnic tables  ‑ Scattered along the Waitemata Drive side of the park.
  • Drinking fountain  ‑ Drinking fountains are near the playground and skatepark and near the club house..
  • Skatepark  ‑ 

    Skate park safety rules

    Our skate parks are not supervised.

    Follow these rules to keep yourself and others safe:

    • Wear a well-fitting helmet and other protective gear.
    • Skate to your ability – don't try new tricks until you're confident.
    • Don't sit in or walk through the skating area.
    • Skate parks are for everyone – take turns, be courteous and have fun!
