Āwhitu House at Āwhitu Regional Park
Āwhitu House, built in the 1930s, sits just inside the entrance of the park and five minutes walk from the waterfront. The main bedroom features french doors which open onto a small deck at the front of the house.
Āwhitu Regional Park has a:
- working farm and historic homestead
- plentiful walks and mountain bike trails
- pōhutukawa fringed tranquil swimming bays
- long sandy beaches.

We have closed large sections of the Waitākere Ranges to prevent the spread of kauri dieback.
When you visit our parks, you need to clean your footwear and equipment to avoid transferring disease from one area to another.

Directions and access
Main park gates are open from 6am to 9pm during daylight savings hours and 6am to 7pm during non-daylight saving hours.
The house can only be accessed during park opening hours.
Turn left up the driveway to the rangers depot - the driveway is on the left of the depot. You do not need an access code for the gate at the house.

Booking information
Bookings can only be made six months in advance for baches. Availability refreshes at midnight daily.

Bedrooms
- Bedroom one: one queen bed
- Bedrooms two and three: one set of king single bunks and one single bed in each room.
You need to supply bed linen, blankets, duvets, sleeping bags, pillows, towels, tea towels, food, mosquito repellent and personal items.
Amenities
Gravity fed roof water supply.
Standard domestic power supply.
Fridge/freezer, stove, microwave, toaster, kettle, cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery provided.
One bathroom with bath and toilet, shower in laundry.
Electric column heaters are provided. Stack fire place with wood supplied in winter.
Rules
Dogs, other animals and pets are prohibited at all times.
You must keep the house and surrounding site clean and tidy during your stay, and when you leave.
To protect against COVID-19 please clean all utensils, crockery and surfaces on your arrival and departure.Rubbish bin in the house, please take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave. If you are staying for any length of time please check with the ranger regarding rubbish disposal.
You may not stay in tents, campervans, or camp in vehicles around the house.
Fires prohibited at all times.
