Rubbish and recycling bags in service
For properties that pay a waste charge, we provide:
- 60-litre orange rubbish bags
- 45-litre clear recycling bags.
We give out these bags twice a year in February and August.
Rubbish and recycling collection service charges
You are charged for waste collection services each year in your property rates.
If your new waste collection service starts part way through the rating year, you will be charged from the date you order the service until 30 June. The rating year runs from 1 July to 30 June.
Waste charges for a full year will be added to a property rates account from the new rating year starting 1 July.
Rubbish and recycling bag charges
The charge for a new rubbish and recycling bag service is calculated based on the time between when a new service is ordered and the end of the rating year on June 30.

If you run out of rubbish and recycling bags, you can buy them from:
- Central City Library and council services
- selected supermarkets.
You can buy 40-litre or 60-litre orange rubbish bags and 45-litre clear recycling bags.
