Complaints about food poisoning
If you are feeling unwell and suspect food poisoning has been caused by eating or drinking contaminated food or drink from a food outlet, then:
- seek medical attention from a doctor
- contact the Auckland Regional Public Health Unit.
The Public Health Unit staff will notify MPI if there is evidence the illness was caused by food.
Complaints about food safety and hygiene
Contact us if you have concerns or complaints about food business site relating to:
- cleanliness
- food display or storage
- food hygiene practices
- foreign object found in food
- food safety issues
- food labelling
- grading certificate not on display
- unregistered food business.
Some food business are registered with the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI). Complaints regarding these business will be forwarded to the MPI compliance team.
