About Onehunga Bay Reserve

This is a large open space and beach area. The reserve has opportunities for water sports on the lagoon, and a network of mostly accessible paths throughout the reserve and around the lagoon. Use the Taumanu Bridge over the motorway to get to Taumanu Reserve.

Access the car park from Beachcroft Avenue. Pedestrians can also access from Taumanu Reserve and Orpheus Drive.

A playground, fitness equipment, skateboard ramp, toilets and changing rooms (including accessible), car park (including mobility), picnic tables and seating, and drinking fountains are inside the park. Park gates are open 6am to 8pm in summer, and 6am to 6pm in winter.

Follow the Onehunga Bay to Waikowhai Path and the Cornwall Park to Manukau Harbour section of the Coast to Coast Path.

Animals

Dogs must be on leash at all times in our parks unless otherwise stated in the dog walking section.

Alcohol

Alcohol is banned from some public places in Auckland. See Alcohol bans to find out the rules for each park and view ban maps.

Smokefree parks

Our parks are all smokefree.

Waste

Use bins where provided to dispose of your rubbish. If there are no bins take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave.

Outdoor fires

It is illegal to light open fires in public areas in the Auckland region.

  • Car park  ‑ Access from Beachcroft Avenue. Open 6am to 8pm in summer and 6am to 6pm in winter.

    Skate park safety rules

    Our skate parks are not supervised.

    Follow these rules to keep yourself and others safe:

    • Wear a well-fitting helmet and other protective gear.
    • Skate to your ability – don't try new tricks until you're confident.
    • Don't sit in or walk through the skating area.
    • Skate parks are for everyone – take turns, be courteous and have fun!
