About Tōtara Park

This 216 hectare open space has natural areas, bridal trails, bush walking, and is suitable for mountain biking. The Auckland Botanic Gardens are next to this park. It is home to the Tōtara Park Pools are within the park.

Access from Wairere Road and Everglade Drive.

A playground, toilets, car park (with mobility parking), basketball and tennis courts, barbecues, picnic tables and seating are inside the park.

Follow the Tōtara Puhinui Creek Path through the park and along the fringe of a tōtara forest, or the scenic Tōtara Bridle Path for a country experience.

You need to know

Animals

Dogs must be on leash at all times in our parks unless otherwise stated in the dog walking section.

Alcohol

Alcohol is banned from some public places in Auckland. See Alcohol bans to find out the rules for each park and view ban maps.

Smokefree parks

Our parks are all smokefree.

Waste

Use bins where provided to dispose of your rubbish. If there are no bins take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave.

Outdoor fires

It is illegal to light open fires in public areas in the Auckland region.

How to access Tōtara Park

  • Car park  ‑ Access the large car park from the end of Wairere Road. Open 7am to 9pm in summer and 7am to 7pm in winter.

What to see and do at Tōtara Park

  • Barbecues  ‑ At the lower side of swimming pool in the pool grounds.
  • Picnic tables  ‑ In a cluster between the car park and pool complex.
