When rates instalments are due
When we apply penalties
We apply the following penalties:
- If you do not pay your rates instalment in full by the due date, we charge 10 per cent of any amount owing.
- If you have unpaid rates and penalties at the end of the rating year, we charge a further 10 per cent on this outstanding amount.
- We will apply a further 10 per cent penalty to any amounts still unpaid six months after the end of the rating year.
We do not charge GST on rates penalties.

We credit payments towards the oldest overdue amount. In some cases, you may be eligible for a refund on a rates penalty.

How to view your rates balances
If you have already signed up to myAUCKLAND
If you're registered for myAUCKLAND, you can log in and check your balances online for all your properties.
- Once you have logged in, click the 'My property rates' button and select a property.
- You can view your balances under the 'Your property rates balance' heading.
If you haven't signed up to myAUCKLAND yet
If you are not registered for myAUCKLAND, you can sign up now.
You will need to add a property before you can view your balances and account transactions.
