This is a coastal walkway and cycle path that winds along Auckland's south-eastern coast. It has significant Māori and European history and interesting coastal flora and fauna.
The walkway connects the settlements of Beachlands and Maraetai and offers views of the Hauraki Gulf, Waiheke Island and the Coromandel Peninsula.
You can enjoy the pōhutukawa-lined coast, and stop for a swim at Maraetai beach, Te Pene Reserve or Ōmana Esplanade.

Dogs need to be on-leash or off-leash under control for most of the walkway.
Dogs are prohibited on sport fields or near children's playgrounds and from Ōmana Regional Park, except for around the perimeter walk.
Dogs must not disturb wildlife or other park users.
Suitable for wheelchairs and prams. There are some unsealed sections.
The Beachlands-Maraetai walkway is shared with cyclists.
You can start at either end, from Maraetai Park (off Maraetai Drive) or from the end of Second View Avenue in Beachlands.
Park your vehicle at Shelley Bay Toilet Reserve, 142-4 Second View Avenue.
You can also access the walkway from Omana Esplanade, Ōmana Regional Park and Te Puru Park.
Parking is available at Maraetai Park, Te Pene Reserve, Ōmana Esplanade Reserve, Ōmana Regional Park, Te Puru Park, Spinnaker Bay (Beachlands end).
There are also a few options for catching a bus depending on where you are travelling from. Make your way to Maraetai, and then catch a bus to Third View Avenue. Walk for five minutes to Second View Avenue.
